AMEF was formed as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization in Oklahoma, USA in December 2012. The purpose of AMEF is to promote & sponsor medical education & clinical training of African medical students and physicians, and to provide logistical and financial support for volunteer expat physicians and other healthcare workers involved in such medical education and clinical training in Africa. It functions as a Christian benevolence organization to promote biblical values in medical education, clinical training and medical practice.

Our base in Africa is at the MyungSung Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Teaching and clinical training take place at the MyungSung Christian Medical Center (MCM) and MyungSung Medical College (MMC). AMEF also has worked in Malawi at the Daeyang Luke Hospital (DLH), Daeyang College of Nursing (DCN), as well as the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) and the University of Malawi College of Medicine (UMCOM) in Lilongwe, Malawi
